Both Kevin Carter’s Pulitzer-winning photo and the (RED) campaign commodify African poverty to sell their products, albeit in different ways. By placing Carter’s photo on a Starbuck’s (RED) kiosk, this poster questions whether much of art for social causes only emotionally detaches consumers from the people they are presumably helping.
