I believe that design can serve as an agent of social change — an expression of social conscience that articulates a dialogue between a designer’s personal ideals and those of the public.

Like Tibor Kalman, I am interested in individual expression in the service of combating social challenges. My work lies not in shocking audiences with images of suffering and poverty, but in enabling them to question their values.

I graduated from Princeton University in June 2009 with a degree in Sociology and a certificate in East Asian Studies. At Princeton, I started the Student Design Agency, a student group that creates posters and websites for the University community and hosts workshops and conferences to promote graphic design as a serious field of academic and social inquiry.

In 2009, I interned at Pentagram Design in New York under Paula Scher. I am currently in London for one year, working as a research associate at the Royal College of Art’s Helen Hamlyn Centre under the auspices of a Fulbright Award, creating projects that use graphic design to address stigma surrounding aging and sexuality. I'm also working with Neville Brody at Research Studios to organize the inaugural Anti Design Festival.

In the fall of 2010, I will return to the US to begin my MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design.

In my spare time, I like songwriting, yoga, and sushi.
